    Hello Marios,

Really I most I read for the sake of reading especially if it’s a novel or a soft read. The only time I read intently is when I have a quiz or an exam paper to write.

I know it’s not too good but I’d rather watch a video than read a book.

    Thanks for sharing,

    warm regards

      Hey Louis,

In my opinion, nothing can substitute a good book. But that’s just me, a life-long bookworm ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for the informative post.  When I read, I normally don’t put that much thought into it; I just read for fun.  This post has some good suggestions on what you can do to make your reading more enjoyable; especially the social aspect. Often, I don’t talk about what I read because I don’t feel like I retain enough of the critical details. Maybe I should follow up tips!

      Hey Nate,

If you don’t have any people you can talk to about your books, you can always use an online community, such as Goodreads. Check it out!

Thank you for this wonderful post, I find it really helpful,i think first and foremost I read things over and over again to have a better understanding of what it is all about and to digest the whole contents, then I try to ask questions when I get confused. These seven tips you provided here are great.

    Hello,

Nice topic today, thanks for checking on we the readers. lol… But I didn’t really get the concept behind “zoom out” can you please give further explanation into that concept? Thanks for the great write-up, it was really helpful and informative. More grease to your elbow. It’s so essential to take notes out of books, I know that too well

    Have nice day

      Hey Salim,

The concept of “Zooming out” is to read a summary of the book before reading the book. Blinkist, for example, does exactly that – providing a summary of books, for you to “zoom out”. Or just get an idea of the book, if you’re busy.

Hi! Thank you for these very useful steps to become a better reader. Yes, I agree with you that we need to read in a way we get the most information out of the text.

Our reading ritual gets perfected the more we read. Reading is an interaction between the reader and the information that’s in front of him. All his background knowledge, his prejudice, and interests come to play an important roll.

I have personally believed in taking my own notes. I find it very useful. And sharing information after reading helps to consolidate the new knowledge in our brain.

I like this infographic very much. Thank you!

      Hey Henry,

Taking notes and applying what you read and learned is quintessential for a good read. Unless, of course, when you’ re reading to marintate your mind.

      Thanks for the tip!

Basically the number one priority for me is the thirst for knowledge. I always want to know more, I want to build my library up to the capacity that even my children will be proud of it when I’m gone.My reading ritual is this; I try as much as possible to read in a very conducive environment. When I am reading, I love to have water inside me, because to an extent, reading consumes lots of brain power. When I feel dehydrated I rehydrate myself.I often divide the pages into segments and I read only a segment per day till I’m done with the book. I don’t rush it!

The maxim, that readers are leaders  cannot be overemphasised. The secret of success is in the book,so how much one can read and comprehend within a limited time will classically determine the sense of judgement and widens ones knowledge. And knowledge they say is power. The reading habit is developmental, the more you read, the less time you require to read and comprehend.

      Hey Chris,

I have to add here that it’s not only what you know but mostly applying what you know is what makes the difference between success and failure.
