Kindle Unlimited – The lowdown
At the end of 2018, Amazon had a promotion, that allowed me signing up to Kindle Unlimited for a 3-month trial, for $0.99. At this moment, you can have a 30-day free trial, and then it the price is at $9.99 per month. So, I decided to give it a shot, and give you my comments. This is my Kindle Unlimited Review.
What is Kindle Unlimited?
Kindle Unlimited is a subscription service provided by Amazon. It allows you to “borrow” as many books as you want from a selection of ebooks and read them at their own pace. You can have up to 10 borrowed books at any given time.
Book Availability
The authors choose whether to make their book eligible for Kindle Unlimited, so not all books are available. Most best-selling authors, do not enlist their books eligible for Kindle Unlimited. There are some great books available though, like “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R. Covey or “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod. There are books, as cheap as $0.99 and as expensive as $129.94
How to register for a Kindle Unlimited
Head up to Kindle Unlimited Sign Up and follow the Instructions
You can also sign in from the Kindle App on your smartphone or tablet.
First Steps
When you sign in, and head to the Kindle Unlimited Page, you will see a list of books eligible for Kindle Unlimited. You can then go to the book page and start reading the book at once. If you have 10 books in your library at the moment, you the app asks you to return one book.
Another way to find books eligible for Kindle Unlimited is to check the “Kindle Unlimited” checkbox in Amazon search filters. This way, you limit your search only to Kindle Unlimited eligible books.
eBooks with Audible
For some books, especially fiction books, you can also listen to the book. Whispersync feature works for both of the media. This way, you can continue from where you left off, when you are switching media.
Final Impressions
With Kindle Unlimited, I have read many books in the past three months. The best books are not available, and most books’ price is below the $3 mark. This means that you have to read at least three books per month, to make it worth it. I find myself getting books off the shelf and start reading as soon as I finish the previous one. Because I have paid for the subscription, and I can choose any book at any time. As far as I am concerned, Kindle Unlimited is a valid investment to make and worth its money.
If, you live in a country that supports Amazon Prime and same-day delivery, I’d suggest moving to Amazon Prime. It offers much more for a small increase in the monthly subscription price.
