Wow, nice review! I am a daily reader myself using mainly a Kobo ereader when I’m at home. However, There are many times when I don’t have the device on me so I have to use my phone. Up till now, I have only used the Kobo app on my phone simply because I did not realize there were so many other great options worth looking into. Thanks to your intro and review of these apps I will have to download a few to try.
Thanks again the good info!

Hey David,
I also use some of these apps, but mostly the Kindle app for Android, iOS and the PC as well as the iBooks app on my iPad.
Thanks for stopping by!
Marios
This is exactly what I needed! I have been hearing rumors about the iPhone Kindle App, but I wasn’t sure if I needed to look elsewhere or not. Thanks to your very nice review, I know what options I have. Thank you so much for doing the work and giving us the knowledge!
Clay
Hi Clay,
I’m glad you liked the post! There are many options for eBook lovers on mobile and Kindle App is one of them. The only feature it’s missing in comparison with the Android app is that you can’t purchase books or magazines directly through the Kindle app on iOS devices. You’ll have to buy it through the Amazon website and send it to your phone or iPad.
I’m using the Kindle app on my iPad for reading PDF books and documents

Thanks a lot for this great and detailed review on “book-reader” apps. I thoroughly went through each app to learn more about them.
One app, only, I am familiar with and this is “Goodreads” and so far I love it. Due to your review and the mentioning of other apps serving the same purpose I will try out a couple more, “Kobo” and “GoogelPlaybooks” also have caught my eyes.
I love reading and don’t have am extra book reader device, yet, so these apps will serve me well.
Thanks for sharing it I’m very grateful for the information you have provided. 🙂
Hey Sylvia,
I don’t consider Goodreads an ebook reading app, you can’t read eBooks with Goodreads. It is a great social network for bibliophiles, as well a vast database of books. You can find many new books to read on Goodreads.

I love to read and learn just about anything and I love the fact that I can read on my anroid device, as reading on a phone would be a bit too small, for my tired old eyes. I used to love reading actual books before getting the tablet but I love the fact that I can read and do so much more on one device it makes it easier to bring a bunch of books with you to read where ever you go. I have been using my phone a lot to listen to audio books though as if makes it much easier to listen while doing other things, like walking to the store.
Hey Shy,
You can read on your mobile phone. I do, with my Kindle App. Any app that uses an ePub and MOBI formats is great for a mobile phone. Avoid PDF eBook, they really need a bigger screen.
Audiobooks is a great way to consume books while doing something else as well. I definitely suggest it.

Hi Marios, I enjoyed your article on 6 awesome android apps for book lovers and avid online readers. Obviously if i’m reading this article then I’m a book lover. I have never heard of GoodReads. Is it free?. I have heard about most of the other apps and my favorite is Scribd. You are talking about monthly subscription how about yearly subscription. I also like Kobo. Unfortunately, my least favorite is your favorite which is Kindle. Kindle doesn’t have pdf so once you purchased a book, you can only use kindle app to read it. I will difenitely check out Goodreads and Bookqueue out.
Hey Clement,
Goodreads is free, and has a great community as well as a great database of books. I use it to connect to other book readers as well as discovers new books to read.
I don’t like PDF. You need a tablet of at least 8″ to read it. I prefer eBook formats such as Kobo’s ePub, MOBI and even Kindle’s proprietary AZW, because I can read them on any device.
Thanks for sharing your opinion!
Marios
Hey there,
as a book lover myself, I am constantly on the look for new and exciting ways to expand my hobby and discover awesome new platforms and places where I can enjoy my so beloved activity! Your article (which I found to be very helpful) presented me a lot of whole new & interesting options to read books anywhere on the go with very informative description to each of the option, great job! I am very excited to try all of them at some point, especially the ”Kobo” one, which according to You ”got world’s best eBooks, magazines, comics and children’s books”! Thanks a lot for some cool & fresh ideas and keep up the good work!
Hey Evald,
Kobo is a company that has a whole ecosystem, regarding e-reading, parallel to the one Amazon has with Kindle. It has eBook Readers, apps for all operating systems and devices, as well as an extensive book shop with all the content I mention in this article.
I’d also suggest giving both Kobo and Kindle a try and choose for yourself.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hey there Marios, I love apps! I have an app for everything lol! I use Amazon’s Kindle app for my reading obsession – don’t forget Amazon also has a monthly subscription plan called Kindle Unlimited – so awesome! I’ll be trying out the other apps you listed that I haven’t heard about until today – which is your favorite? thank you so much for the info, the more sources to get books from the better I say!
Hey Nadia,
I’m a huge fan of Amazon Kindle myself. I also use the Amazon ecosystem for my reading. I am aware of the Kindle Unlimited, but I haven’t tried it yet. I think I will give it a try soon. The best selling business books are not included in Kindle Unlimited, and this is one of the reasons I haven’t signed up yet. The other, is that I manage to find free and discounted eBooks from a variety of sources.
The apps I mention can be used concurrently. Check them out and tell me which ones you like, and why. Thanks for stopping by!
Marios
Hey who don’t love a good read! i have only ever tried kindle for android which is very much fit for purpose from my experience. i am however interested in other methods and i know my daughter will also like to have a look through the ones you mention here, i shall pass the link along.
Scribd Apps look great!
Hi Dianne,
Yup, the Kindle App is great, especially if you have a Kindle eReader as well 🙂
I use the Kindle App too. I’ve moved all my books to the Kindle ecosystem and read on my Paperwhite, as well as the Kindle App on my phone and my iPad. Scribd is also great as is Google Play Books. It all comes down to personal preferences!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂

great review of these apps that I don’t use I read every day, but use the Blinklist App that gives one summary for free per day. For sure I will check out Google Playbooks and Scribd App they sounds good for how and what I read in general.
Do you know the Blinklist App?
Thanks, Tommy
Hi Tommy,
Of course I know the Blinkist app! I use that one as well for books that i want to read their summary and get the main points. I combine this with reading books on these apps, especially Kindle App and Scribd.
Thanks for stopping by!
Marios
Hi there
It is really amazing how technology takes us as far as not to go to libraries anymore all thanks to android by bringing a World of Books- Holding the world’s largest digital library, the app, gives you unlimited access to over 100,000 books
We are now spoiled with choices like Kobo app and Schrbd app thank you again for this article finding more available apps and on this note, all the best guys!!
Hi Otis,
I’m glad you liked the posts and that you found the apps useful. The libraries aren’t gone, it’s just that you can avoid physically going to the library. You can use Libby or even Google Search to find books you can get from your local library.
